ADRENALINE DOMINANCE
Adrenaline dominance is categorized as excess adrenaline, or hyperadrenalism. Adrenaline, also known as epinephrine, is a "survival" hormone. Large amounts of this hormone is released when the body faces a threat of some kind. Adrenaline triggers the fight-or-flight response. Often times the body isn't under any threat, but it "thinks" it is. This is often caused by physical or psychological (emotional) stress.
Large amounts of adrenaline increases the sugar level in the blood, directed primarily to the brain and muscles for energy. When sugar levels reach a certain point insulin is provided to drive excess sugar into fat cells for storage. When sugar levels drop more adrenaline is produced to raise sugar levels again. This vicious cycle continues. Cortisol, like adrenaline, functions to increase blood sugar levels so the body has more fuel to deal with whatever is causing the stress.
This high output of adrenaline, insulin, and cortisol results in "classic" symptoms of fatigue, insomnia, ADHD, fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, anxiety/depression, hypertension, etc.
